Carl Landry started his college freshman year during the 2002-03 season at Vincennes University. He averaged 14.7 points and 7.8 rebounds but missed half the season due to a broken hand. As a sophomore during the 2003-04 season, he averaged 19.6 points, 8.9 rebounds,and 2.3 blocks. He was named First-Team Junior College All-America and All-Region MVP. Landry transferred to Purdue University for his junior year and the 2004-05 season, where he led the conference with 18.2 ppg and 7.1 rpg. He shot 61.8 percent from the field and averaged 30.3 mpg. He was named Second Team All Big Ten by conference coaches and media. A knee injury near the end of the season caused Landry to sit out the rest of the season. He came back for the 2005-06 season, but re-injured himself early in season play. He decided to sit out the rest of the season for a full recovery as a redshirt senior. The 6'9", 248 lb power forward is the older brother of Wisconsin junior forward Marcus Landry, and Temple junior forward Shenita Landry.
