I think anything over 5 years, 50 million is overpaying him.

Thoughts?

5, 50 sounds about right.

4,45 would work, 10 a year is a great for a player of his calibre.

5 for 50 sounds about right, but he still is very young so over paying him to keep him around for many years would not be that bad of an idea.

$10 million a year is pretty generous amount imo, especially where you compare this skillset to some of the other sf's in the league who are make considerably more money. The top 10 sf's in the league imo are as follows...

1. LeBron James-2009 salary $15,779,912 (will make way more in 2010)
2. Carmelo Anthony-2010 salary $16,378,325
3. Kevin Durant-2010 salary $4,796,880 (team probably will restructure contract)
4. Pau Pierce-2010 salary $19,795,712
5. Gerald Wallace-2010 salary $9,500,000
6. Ron Artest-2010 salary $5,854,000
7. Danny Granger-2010 salary $10,130,500
8. Josh Smith-2010 salary $10,800,000
9. Rudy Gay
10. Andre Iguodala-2010 salary $12,200,000

I see Rudy Gay as the 9th best sf in the league. The average of the top 9 (including Iguodala) is $11,692,814.33, so just based on that I think Gay deserves what he is asking for.

Yeah $10 million a year sounds good for a player with his skill set. I could see someone offering a bit more but it is tough to say with all the talk of a new CBA.

Rudy Gay will most likely hit FA to see if he can squeeze as much money as possible. Knowing their history of overpaid players, I can see the Knicks offering him a max.

The 33 cents are a deal breaker.

My bad I mix up Mavin Williams' and Josh Smith's positions everytime, Marvin seems like more of a four. Either way you can throw up a guy like Josh Howard into the mix, and he takes in the upwards of $10 million a year.

And yes Slaven thats my top 10. Ron Artest is the best defensive player in the league, and if he wanted he could avg 20ppg like he did in Indiana and Sacramento. Josh Smith is having a all-star season his numbers dont completely indicate the impact that he makes defensively on a nightly basis. I guess if you wanted you could swap Josh Smith and Iguodala I can see how you can make a case for him being the better player. They are pretty close imo. Either way the point I was trying to make was that the salaries for those two guys is well over $10 million a season and Rudy Gay is almost the same caliber player.

He will get a Luol Deng type of contract IMO. 5/50, maybe 5/60 if he goes to RFA and some idiot team (Knicks lol) overpay for him.
Put it together, I rock hoes, y'all rock fellas

It's all good.

Deng's contract is nasty, as in bad.

Someone like New York or Sacramento will get desperate and throw a ridiculous contract at him that would be worth around 15-16 mil a year.
