I thought that there may be more...maybe around 40 or something...maybe including the clutch shots he made down the stretch?

Nice, thanks again B.

EDIT:
While trying to find more data, I found this interesting piece:

http://www.insidehoo...t=116032&page=2

Apparently, Kobe's game winners include any shot made in the final minute, while Jordan's only count those made in the final 24 seconds and Jordan's numbers don't include game winning free throws.

It's an old topic on IH, but still pretty informative. Not sure if any of the information is credible or not, but it does keep you guessing.

What difference does it make how much time is left as long as the definition of "game winner" remains constant. For both guys, it was the last bucket that gave their respective team the lead either at the buzzer or with time left and the opposing team failing to score which resulted in an L. And the list of Jordan GW's thats posted on NBA.com does list MJ's game winning FT's.

Well, they did include Jordan's frees in that official list.

And, on ISH, there is someone who claims that they all gathered the official number of GW's by Kobe...and he left out these:

1) 05/09/99 - Lakers 101, Rockets 100 (playoffs, game-winning FTs with 5.3 seconds remaining)
9) 03/24/02 - Lakers 97, Kings 96 (fade-away jumper, 36 seconds remaining)
13) 04/06/03 - Lakers 115, Suns 113 (GW jumper with 28.6 seconds remaining)
14) 12/19/03 - Lakers 101, Nuggets 99 (game after the trial, fade-away)
15) 02/17/04 - Lakers 89, Blazers 86 (layup and the foul)
16) 03/21/04 - Lakers 104, Bucks 103 (OT jumper with 25 seconds remaining)

He says he left out anything past 24 seconds left on the clock...but I guess he forgot that 5 is less than 24 (see first one).

That Lakers/Nuggets game-winner was a buzzer-beater. Check it out right here...

After Melo's frees.

I don't remember that particular Lakers/Blazers game, but I'm sure it counts as well.

First gamewinner against the Raptors, that's pretty surprising.

Doesn't he also have the most missed game winners of all time? I wonder who has the highest FG% on final shots in NBA history.

Uh huh. You give someone the ball with Smush, Kwame, and Luke on the court as well and see how many game winning shots they will make.

Not to mention every single player, on every single team, knows he's going to take the shot.

Stats with no context should be ignored. FG% doesn't take in account, double teams, and how much time is left on the clock. We've seen Kobe get the ball with 1.2 seconds or less on GW attempts before or his teammates botch a pass forcing him to settle for a low percentage shot. Even MJ, the GOAT wouldn't make those. There are lies, damn lies and statistics.

Lol give me a break, Kobe is heaving the 20 footer, contested or not, regardless of who is on the floor with him.

Like when he passed to Ron Artest to try and win that first game against Memphis this season, when Ron missed the three? Or when Fisher hit that three against Orlando in the Finals, after Kobe's pass out of the post? What about when Kobe passed to Luke Walton against the Knicks a few years back, only to watch Luke pass the ball back to him right when the buzzer sounded? How about the pass Kobe made to Odom a few years back, when Odom airballed the attempted game-winning, wide-open 18-footer?

There's a reason he takes the shot. He's the most clutch player in the history of the game. If he doesn't take it, it's a mistake.
