Thats kind of why this is a big deal. They will not have any kind of cap space until 2013, which then they will have Rondo signed and that is about it. In 2012 they will have like 20 freed' up but next season they will be massively over the cap.

I hardly think that's reason enough to trade such an important piece to your team. Ray Allen is arguably one of the best on-ball defenders in the league, and is still a prolific scorer and clutch shooter. Far better than the self-proclaimed "One of the Better Shooters in NBA History." If I'd known better, I'd be thinking that KG is the one giving the headaches to Boston now.

It was dumb to hang onto the expiring deal. I don't think Ray Allen is going to win or lose a title for the Celts this year, should have taken advantage of the asset while we could.
