Interesting quotes off Saturday's loss-

Wade
"We've got to find a way also to mix it up, stop being a team that everybody knows exactly what we're going to do and they just play us the same way," the seventh-year guard said.

"We should be much better," Wade said. "I'm not going to say we should be number one in the East, but we should be a little better."

Haslem
"Just look at other teams and I don't get overwhelmed by their roster," forward Udonis Haslem said. "Taking nothing away from Cleveland, they're one of the best teams in the league. They got LeBron; we go D-Wade. They got Shaq averaging about 12 and seven; we got J.O. averaging about 12 and seven. They got Mo Williams averaging 16; we got Bease averaging 16.

"It's not lack of talent. I'm sick of people saying that."

To Spoelstra it's about effort, commitment, consistency.

To his players, it's about something more tangible.

"I think the reason why we're losing is purely basketball stuff," Haslem said.

O'Neal
"Right now, we definitely should not be in the position we're in. We feel like we should be better.'

Looks like they're indirectly getting at Spo there.

I think the Heat's problem has been the age differences on the team. They have a bad mix of old players (O'Neal, Richardson, Alston) and young players (Beasley, Wright, Chalmers, Cook), all of which have gotten a large role in the rotation. Wade and Haslem are the only players on the Heat that are in their prime, and it wouldn't be hard to guess that they have been the most consistent players on the team and really the only players you can count on to give a good performance each and every night, while the young players are still learning and the old players whose energy levels won't always be there.

If the old guys were 3 years younger and the young guys were all 3 years older, then the Heat would easily be an elite team in the league. Instead, we have to deal with inconsistencies due to the age differences. One night the Heat are the best team in the league, and the next they are the worst.

BTW, Wade isn't upset at Spo at all: Dwyane Wade says he and Spoelstra are on the same page
