Raptors Release 2010-11 Broadcast Schedule

Quote

TSN and TSN2 will televise 47 Raptors contests across Canada during the 2010-11 campaign. TSN2 has the season opener against Amar’e Stoudamire and the New York Knicks on October 27 from Air Canada Centre. They will also broadcast the first matchup with Kobe Bryant and the defending NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers on November 5 from the STAPLES Center. TSN2’s schedule also features the first meeting with rising star Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder on December 3 as well as two contests against Dwyane Wade and his Miami Heat on January 22 and February 16.

Quote

Sportsnet will be the place to see NBA history March 4 when the Raptors face the New Jersey Nets in the league’s first regular season game played in Europe at The O2 arena in London, England. Other marquee match-ups on the Sportsnet schedule include a November 21 Sunday matinee contest versus the Eastern Conference Champion Boston Celtics, the Toronto debut of John Wall, the first overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, on December 1 as the Raptors play host to the Washington Wizards, and a road contest against Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls on January 4.

Sportsnet One will air both contests versus Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks (December 28 and February 27), Chris Paul and the New Orleans Hornets (January 17 and March 1) and Blake Griffin and the Los Angeles Clippers (February 13 and March 26). Sportsnet One will also televise the season finale against the Heat on April 13 from Air Canada Centre.

http://www.nba.com/raptors/news/broadcast_sked_090110.html

Here is the full schedule:

So by my count, the distrubution will be:

TSN: 23 games
TSN2: 24 games
Sportsnet: 12 games
Sportsnet One: 23 games

This whole Sportsnet One fiasco better be sorted out by the time the season starts. It will be a huge pain if it isn't sorted out by then, not only because of Raptor games, but the fact that everything on Sportsnet seems to be going to Sportsnet One.

Stuckey Has Dropped Significant Weight

Quote

Pistons guard Rodney Stuckey will spend the next four weeks working out with strength and conditioning coach Arnie Kander in preparation for the starting of training camp.

Stuckey is excited to see what he'll weight when camp opens on Sept. 27.

"I haven't gotten on a scale yet," he said. "The 27th will be the first time I'll be on the scale. I'm looking forward to (learning) how much weight I lost. It looks like I lost a lot of weight, right? I think I just toned up a lot. My clothes fit a lot different. I've got to poke holes inside my belt because I'm losing a lot of weight. I've just been working hard, staying focused and just working out."

Deron Next To Ask For Trade?

Who should start at SG, SF, PF?

At the moment, there is only two positions locked up in the Pacers: PG with Darren Collison and C with Roy Hibbert. Obviously Granger would be a lock to start as well, but I wonder whether he will start at SF or PF. If I remember correctly, Paul George is also promised a starting spot.

However, who would you choose as SG,SF and PF respectively for the Pacers for the majority of the season? For me, it is the 'best combination available' regardless of the opponents. Therefore, I am going with Danthay Jones for defense, Danny Granger for scoring and Tyler Hansbrough for rebounding + the little things in the post.

Prediction on Spurs season

As this article written by Mike Monroe of the San Antonio Express-News pointed out, barring any further signings, only 3 Spurs players are above 30 (Manu, McDyess and Duncan). Jefferson and Bonner just turned 30 recently and all the other players are below 30. While saying goodbye to veterans like Keith Bogans and Roger Mason Jr., they signed guys like Alonzo Gee (really good player in the D-League), Gary Neal and the most exciting prospect of all, Tiago Splitter.

What are your thoughts on the now relatively young Spurs team and what is your prediction on the Spurs' record for next season.

My guess is that Gee will take up a role on the bench and some of Jefferson's minutes and Splitter will take over the center spot by the end of the season. I think they will just miss out on 50 wins, with my prediction being 48 wins to 44 losses. Also, Hill will give Pop a headache over whether to start him or Parker. Hill did a nice job last season and he will keep on improving.

JR Smith, the next Kobe Bryant?

Why I love bleacher report

Quote

A week fresh off his 24 day jail sentence for a tragic car accident that claimed his best friends life, Jr Smith is starting over.

JR had one of his best years in the NBA last year coming off the bench for the Denver Nuggets while providing instant offense for the Nuggets if the starters were slow and provided an unstoppable three point threat from as far as 6 feet behind the line.

I guarantee in about two years JR Smith will be the next big name in basketball. Smith will be on ten minutes of ESPN every night with highlights of him dunking and swishing threes after scoring 28 points a night to go along with the better defense Smith is improving on every year.
